How to Disable Page, Event, and Newsletter Invitations on LinkedIn

We all use LinkedIn in different ways. Beyond making professional connections and looking for employment, some people use it as a social network. But others like to keep things strictly about job-seeking, only using the app as needed.

For the latter, dealing with dozens of non-connection-related invitations can be a nuisance. If that sounds like you, here’s how to stop receiving invitations related to pages, events, and newsletters on LinkedIn.

How to Disable Page, Event, and Newsletter Invitations on LinkedIn

Maybe you’re a busy person and barely have time for LinkedIn, or maybe you’re intentional about using the platform to grow your connections or boost your business. Regardless, you probably don’t want to spend hours sorting through page, event, and newsletter invitations.

Invitations to connect can already be overwhelming to deal with, so anything over and above that may be unnecessary. Removing page, event, and newsletter invitations can reduce the clutter in your invitations.

The process for disabling these invitations is slightly different depending on whether you are using the desktop app or the app.

How to Disable LinkedIn Invitations on Desktop

Follow the steps below to disable invitations for pages, events, and newsletters on LinkedIn’s desktop platform.

  1. Sign in to LinkedIn in your browser and click your Profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

  3. Choose Invitations from your network and toggle all three options off: Allow page invitations, Allow event invitations, and Allow newsletter invitations.

How to Disable Invitations on the LinkedIn Mobile App

Follow the steps below to disable invitations on the mobile app.

  1. Open the LinkedIn app on your phone, tap your Profile icon in the top-left corner of the screen, and select Settings at the bottom.
  2. On the Settings page, choose the Data privacy option and tap Invitations from your network.
  3. Toggle off all three options listed to stop receiving the relevant invitations.

You can also quickly access the settings in the mobile app by going to the My Network tab > Invitations > Settings icon > Choose what invitations to receive.

That’s it. You will no longer be bombarded with invitations you can’t be bothered with. And if you want to start receiving these invitations again in the future, just follow the same steps listed above and toggle the settings on.

For the invitations you’ve already received, you can view the sender’s LinkedIn profile anonymously before deciding whether to accept it or not.

How Page, Event, and Newsletter Invitations Work on LinkedIn

When you follow someone or a page with a newsletter on LinkedIn, the platform automatically sends you an invitation to subscribe. This is because LinkedIn wants you to see what your connections are talking about, especially as it may be relevant to you. Of course, you’re not obliged to accept the invitation.

Your connections can also send you invitations to follow pages they think you might be interested in. However, this isn’t always the case. Sending page invitations is one way to attract new clients on LinkedIn, so some users send invitations to increase awareness.

Take Control of Your LinkedIn Experience

Unlike some other social media platforms, you typically won’t spend hours on LinkedIn in one sitting. So, when you do use the platform, you want to make the most of your time. Reduce distractions and clutter by personalizing your experience; disabling invitations you don’t want to receive.
